Supplemental Airbags
Front and side airbags* offer supplemental security to the driver and front passenger, while side curtain airbags above the front and rear doors are designed to offer occupant protection in certain side-impact collisions. A knee bolster airbag protects the driver´s legs.

Occupant Sensing
The X-TYPE features an occupant protection system so advanced it alters airbag deployment based on the driver´s seat position and the weight of the front passenger, deactivating the passenger airbag if the weight-sensor detects a lightweight occupant, such as a child, and illuminating a warning light to caution the driver.

Anti-lock Braking System
The Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) helps maintain steering control to stop the X-TYPE in a straighter line, particularly under hard braking or adverse weather conditions, to maneuver around an obstacle. Without ABS, hard braking can cause the wheels to lock up and the vehicle to skid out of control.

Electronic Brakeforce Distribution
The X-TYPE´s Electronic Brakeforce Distribution system (EBD) works with sensors in the ABS to help detect if a rear wheel is about to lock under braking, then balances brakeforce bias between the front and rear wheels.
